The first experiment was carried out by College of Pharmacy, Jilin University, College of Chinese Medicinal Materials of Jilin Agricultural University
Male mice were randomly divided into control group and reishi spore powder low, medium and high dose groups, 15 mice in each group.
The control group was orally administered with sodium carboxymethylcellulose (a placebo), and the low, medium and high dose groups of reishi spore powder were orally administered with different doses of reishi spore powder.
Experimental results showed: In reishi spore powder group, mice’s sleep time was significantly prolonged (see Figure 1 below), and their sleep incidence was also significantly increased (see Figure 2 below).

There are two main criteria to judge sleep quality: falling asleep and sleep time. If you can’t sleep all the time, it’s difficult to fall asleep; if you sleep short, you can’t sleep well.
Compared with mice in the control group who received only placebo, the sleep time of mice using reishi spore powder was significantly prolonged.
At the same time, the overall incidence of sleep was significantly increased, indicating that reishi spore powder can promote mice to fall asleep.
The second experiment was carried out by the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine
100 inpatients and outpatients with insomnia were divided into 50 cases in the control group and 50 cases in the treatment group (1 case failed due to lost follow-up).
The treatment group took reishi spore powder, and the control group took Guipi Pill (a proprietary Chinese medicine, which has the effects of strengthening the spleen and nourishing blood and soothe the nerves).
The experimental results showed the insomnia improvement rate of the treatment group taking reishi spore powder was 92%; the insomnia improvement rate of the control group taking Guipi pills was 77.55%, as shown in the figure below:
