Natural astaxanthin has been widely known by its superior antioxidant ability. In Japan, dozens of experts and research institutions have done a lot of academic research and clinical experiments, the results show that natural astaxanthin can consume human triglyceride and increase high density lipoprotein (HDL).
Method
Take natural astaxanthin doses 0, 6, 12, 18 mg/day for 12 weeks: randomly selected 25-60 years old without diabetes or hypertension, fasting serum triglycerides 120-200 mg/dl 61 non-obese people.
Result
Before and after the control tests, natural astaxanthin had no effect on body mass index (BMI) and low-density lipoprotein(LDL) at the above doses. However, triglycerides were reduced by 30-50%, while high-density lipoproteins (HDL) were significantly increased by 20-30%. Multiple samples were compared with the actual 12 and 18 mg/day groups. Triglycerides were significantly reduced by 30-50%. The high-density lipoprotein (HDL) was significantly increased by 20-30% at the daily dose of 6-12 mg/kg, serum adiponectin was increased in the 12-18 mg/day dose group, and the change of adiponectin was positively correlated with the change of HDL, which has nothing to do with the age-related body mass index (BMI).
Conclusion
The first randomized, double-blind, controlled human trial in human history has shown that natural astaxanthin can deplete human triglycerides and increase high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and adiponectin.
Another experiment was to verify the potential efficacy of natural astaxanthin on cardiovascular health. Although only clinical animal studies were conducted, the answer was very satisfactory. Japanese researchers performed three separate trials on hypertensive rats: the first trial, the researchers found that supplementation of natural astaxanthin for 14 consecutive days significantly reduced blood pressure in hypertensive rats; blood pressure did not decrease in rats with ideal blood pressure. They also found that after 5 weeks of supplementation with astaxanthin in stroke-prone rats, not only does the blood pressure drop, but the signs of stroke are also delayed.
The conclusions from the above experiments in Japan are that natural astaxanthin is beneficial for the prevention of hypertension and stroke and for the improvement of memory in patients with arterial dementia.
Another research experiment approved the efficacy of natural astaxanthin on high blood pressure. And the experiment also clarified the mechanism of natural astaxanthin on hypertension. As a result, they found that the mechanism of lowering blood pressure of natural astaxanthin may be due to the regulation of nitric oxide by natural astaxanthin. Astaxanthin also controls blood pressure while regulating nitric oxide.
The study further studied the effect of natural astaxanthin on heart contraction. The contraction of heart was induced by various external factors. It was found that natural astaxanthin improved these induced factors, indicating that natural astaxanthin can reduce heart disease. The study concluded that natural astaxanthin helps improving blood flow in hypertensive patients and can improve arterial vasodilation.
